Safety Advisory for Pearl Harbor Visitors – 2025

Health and Safety Measures:

  • COVID-19 Protocols: As of now, mask mandates have been lifted at the Pearl Harbor National Memorial. Masks are no longer required in any buildings or locations within the memorial. However, this policy is subject to change based on public health guidance. Visitors are encouraged to stay updated on any changes.

  • Partner Sites: Please note that the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum, Battleship Missouri, Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum, and the shuttle services between these sites are managed by separate entities. Their health and safety policies, including mask requirements, may differ. It is advisable to check directly with these organizations for their current guidelines.

Bag Policy:

  • Prohibited Items: For security reasons, bags that offer concealment, such as purses, handbags, backpacks, fanny packs, camera bags, diaper bags, and luggage exceeding the dimensions of 1.5″ x 2.25″ x 5.5″, are not allowed at the monument.

  • Bag Storage: The Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum operates a baggage storage facility near the entrance to the visitor center. There is a fee per bag for all sizes, including luggage. Visitors may use the same bag storage and parking stall for visits to all Pearl Harbor Historic Sites.

Food and Beverage Policy:

  • Permitted Items: Food and non-alcoholic beverages are allowed on-site. However, only water is permitted inside the museums, theaters, on U.S. Navy vessels, and on the USS Arizona Memorial. Visitors are encouraged to stay hydrated and practice the “Pack it in and Pack it out” principle to help keep Pearl Harbor clean and pristine.

General Safety Recommendations:

  • Social Distancing: While enjoying the memorial, visitors are encouraged to practice social distancing to ensure the health and safety of all. Being aware of your surroundings will help prevent the spread of infectious diseases.

  • Local Health Orders: Hawaii, particularly the island of Oahu, is a popular tourist destination. The public is highly encouraged to follow local area health orders during their visit.

Please note that safety protocols and guidelines are subject to change. Visitors are advised to check for the most current information before their visit.
